Hard racing at Goodwood Members' Meeting with the historic Carreras Colombia Cobra
April 12, 2022
The second race weekend of Pursuit Racing's 2022 historic motorsport season was at glorious Goodwood, where we supported DK Engineering's famous Carreras Colombia AC Cobra.
Open exclusively to members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club community, the annual Goodwood Members’ Meeting is an epic weekend of historic racing which aims to recreate the atmosphere and camaraderie of the original BARC Members’ Meetings that took place at Goodwood through the 1950s and 1960s.
Held every March, the Members' Meeting offers a rare opportunity to stage races and demonstrations for cars that competed after 1966, which is when the circuit closed. When the circuit was reopened for the first Goodwood Revival Meeting in 1998, the programme was restricted to cars that raced between 1948 and 1966.
2022 saw the 79th Goodwood Member's Meeting. Pursuit Racing supported the Carreras Colombia AC Cobra, which was racing in the Graham Hill Trophy, with James Cottingham and Harvey Stanley sharing the driving.
Our last race with the Cobra had been at Goodwood Revival in September 2021. Jenson Button and Al Buncombe joined the team for the weekend and the car showed some of its prodigious pace, so we were all looking forward to another great Goodwood weekend.
Having started from P7 and battled through to P4 and a great fight for the final podium step, there was contact on track which forced the car out of the race due to damage: a sad way to end an otherwise epic event. After the race, the evocatively-liveried AC Cobra went to our friends at Brooklands Cars for work to repair the nearside front wing, preserving all of the original aluminium bodywork.
