DBR9/101 arrived at Pursuit in April 2023 after 15 years not turning a wheel. This GT1 titan is widely regarded as the most successful DBR9 GT1 ever, with three Le Mans 24 Hour races (coming 4th in GT1 and 9th overall at its peak in 2006), wins at Nürburgring, Silverstone, Monza, Bahrain and Interlagos, and podiums at Sebring and Spa under its belt from an impactful four seasons of racing in period.
101 was originally assembled by Prodrive and ready to race in its first season in 2005. After as successful year with class and outright wins over several 1,000km races, Team Modena took over to prepare the car for the 2006 season and beyond. 2008 was the final season of racing for DBR9/101 which saw multiple wins, most notably at the Silverstone 1,000km.
Pursuit’s brief was to bring this proven winner back to competitive and race-leading performance through a nut and bolt recommission. The team stripped and rebuilt the entire chassis, including a new fuel tank, crack testing, full gearbox rebuild, refreshed paintwork matching the period livery and carbon repairs. Prodrive also rebuilt the iconic V12 engine. It’s so important not to lose the essence of the original car in recommission projects, so we made sure to keep the period specifications intact, utilising the wiring looms and other components from the original build, while still enhancing the performance overall.
Chassis 101 had an extensive spares package in place already and as part of this project the Pursuit team catalogued, photographed and reboxed all of the spares to create a complete package.
