The comeback of the early GT3

"We’ve had the pleasure of working on a number of GT3 cars so far: from BMW Z4 GT3s to the Audi R8 LMS GT3, all of which were extremely successful in period!"

After several years of successfully recommissioning a range of impressive cars - including GT1, GT2, LMP1 and LMP2– we’re seeing a resurgence in popularity of GT3 cars, with more than ever coming into the workshop.

GT3 was initially started in 2005 to sit below the existing GT1 and GT2 categories. It presented an additional opportunity for manufacturers and teams to showcase more of the best grand tourers available at the time out on track. By 2013, dozens of manufacturers had built or been the inspiration for new GT3 homologations, and there are even more now in 2024. The beauty of GT3 is that a wide variety of cars can be homologated with almost no limit on engine size and configuration, chassis composition or layout compared to other similar classes. Much like other series however, GT3 cars are always based on mass production road cars that are still in manufacture at the time of homologation, meaning you get the best of your favourite road cars reimagined for the track.

We’ve had the pleasure of working on a number of GT3 cars so far: from BMW Z4 GT3s to the Audi R8 LMS GT3, all of which were extremely successful in period and their later models still run at the front of the field today.

We are looking forward to Motor Racing Legends’ new series in 2025, which we already have several cars signed up for, so watch this space!
